Research

My research goal is to rationally design and synthesize nanostructured membranes using emerging nanomaterials, such as 2D materials (graphene, h-BN, TMDCs, MXenes, graphyne), 1D nanotubes (CNTs, BNNTs), ultrathin 3D materials (MOFs, COFs), Janus and biomimetic materials, for realizing atomic-scale controlled mass transport in large scale manufacturing processes and addressing critical challenges in energy, chemical separations, and biomedical applications.
 

My specific research directions within the next 5–6 years are (i) developing 2D materials for proton exchange membranes, (ii) creating nanostructured membranes for precise chemical separations, and (iii) synthesizing semipermeable membranes for artificial organs.
